Read/SF - Literacy Education

Mike Hodel brought these writers together for READ/SF, a day of readings to raise funds for literacy education. The event was recorded and the tape sale provided support to community programs that taught people how to read.

Now, a decade later, the remaining tapes of READ/SF are available again. Purchases will benefit California Literacy, the nation's oldest and largest statewide volunteer literacy organization. California Literacy helps community groups, businesses and institutions set up reading programs, trains tutors and provides an apprentice program for trainers of volunteer tutors.

The recording of READ/SF is on four 90 minute audio cassettes, nearly six hours of stories and music. The sets are available from California Literacy for a donation of $29.95 plus $4.00 for shipping in the US, or $10.00 for out of the country.
